Money clarity without giving up your privacy

mooola is an independently developed personal finance app from South Africa. It helps people understand actual spending from supported bank statements while keeping their financial records on their own device.

Personal finance software should earn your trust

Seeing where your money goes is useful. Handing over bank credentials or creating another permanent cloud copy of your transactions should not be the price of getting that clarity. mooola takes a more deliberate route: import records you already control and process them locally.

What guides the app

Financial records stay local

Statements are parsed on your device. mooola does not run a cloud transaction store or sell banking data.

No inflated promises

We publish exact supported formats, explain when data may leave a device, and distinguish spending insight from financial advice.

Validate each local format

The import system started with selected South African formats. Every new country and statement layout is tested before we call it supported.

Built and written by Luke Stephens

mooola is designed and developed by Luke Stephens, a South African software designer. Luke maintains the app, its statement-format documentation, and mooola’s product and editorial content. You can also visit his personal website.

What you can expect from mooola

We do

  • Process supported statements on your device
  • Explain supported file types and known limitations
  • Provide privacy-safe diagnostics for import problems
  • Let you organise and remove imported account data
  • Keep support guidance available on the web and Discord

We do not

  • Ask for bank usernames, passwords, PINs, or OTPs
  • Sell or rent personal information or banking data
  • Use financial records for advertising or profiling
  • Initiate payments or act as a bank
  • Claim affiliation with the banks whose formats are supported

Documentation and community

The website contains permanent, searchable versions of the import instructions and common answers shared in the mooola Discord community. Discord remains the place to talk with other testers, ask questions, and suggest features; the website makes the same core help easier to find and reference.
