If someone asks for proof of your Absa banking details, check whether they want a bank confirmation letter. It confirms account details; a bank statement instead shows activity over a period. Sending a statement when a letter is sufficient can disclose transactions the recipient never needed.
The Absa Banking App and Online Banking both provide a letter-download workflow. Use your own banking access to obtain the bank-issued document rather than completing a template or editing an old PDF.
Download the letter in the Absa Banking App
- Sign in to the Absa Banking App.
- Open Menu, then Documents → Bank confirmation letter.
- Select the account you need and approve the verification request.
- Save or download the letter.
This follows Absa’s Banking App help, checked on 29 October 2026. Before sharing, open the saved document and check that it is for the intended account.
Download the letter in Absa Online Banking
- Open Absa’s official website and sign in to Online Banking.
- Under Accounts, choose the relevant account.
- Choose More → Documents → Bank confirmation letter.
- Approve the verification request, then choose View.
- Download the letter to save or print it.
Absa’s current Online Banking guide also lists a Documents route through Profile. If your interface differs, use that guide rather than assuming an unrelated account document is equivalent.
Confirmation letter, statement or proof of payment?
| Document | Question it answers |
|---|---|
| Bank confirmation letter | What are the account-holder and banking details? |
| Bank statement | What transactions and balances appear over the selected period? |
| Proof or notice of payment | What are the details of a particular payment? |
“Proof of account”, “proof of banking” and “bank account certificate” can be used loosely in a request. Confirm the actual document required with the recipient. A confirmation letter does not supply a three-month transaction history, and a payment notification is not an account confirmation letter.
If you need transaction history instead, use the Absa statements and documents guide. For a statement that will not open, see our password, Striata and Outlook help.
Check the recipient’s requirements before sending
- Account: make sure the letter relates to the account you intend to use, particularly if you have several.
- Details: if information is incorrect, ask Absa to correct it and issue an appropriate document. Do not alter the letter yourself.
- Date and format: ask whether the recipient requires a recently issued PDF, a printed copy or another document. There is no single freshness rule established by the download instructions above.
- Delivery: use the recipient’s agreed channel and send only the document they need.
A letter downloaded successfully is not a guarantee that every organisation will accept it for every purpose. In particular, confirm whether a request for proof of address can be satisfied by that document.
If the account or download option is missing
Check that you selected the correct account and compare your screen with Absa’s current instructions. For account access, incorrect details or a failed verification request, use Absa’s official support channels. mooola cannot generate a replacement bank letter or resolve bank authentication.
Absa also lists printing or emailing confirmation letters among its ATM services. Check the available service and any displayed charge before proceeding; this article does not promise a fee or universal availability for every account.
Can you import a confirmation letter into mooola?
No. A confirmation letter lacks the transaction history needed for spending analysis. Keep it for the organisation requesting your banking details.
For expense tracking, download a supported original statement and follow the Absa import guide. The Absa PDF-to-CSV converter likewise needs a supported statement; it cannot turn a letter into missing transactions.
